Shalwar Kameez traces its origins to the Mongols and was once considered a Muslim Dress. Shalwar Khameez is a traditional garment worn by the people of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. It is worn by both men and women due its modesty with Muslim values, comfort and freedom of movement. Differences exist between Men’s and Women’s Salwaar Kameez. shalwar and kameez as a national Iranian costume can be seen from Parthian times and the best known examples are the large bronze statue from Shami in outh-western Iran dated late 1st century BCE and found in the Tehran Museumand the statue of the worshipper from Hatra in Iraq, depicting a shalwar and a belted kameez.the shalwar-kameez is a Zoroastrian Iranian national costume, and despite the Arab invasion of Iran in the 7th century the Parthian shalwar-Kameez prevailed as a dress code in most of these countries.Shalwar Kameez is the closest to Islamic dress (Evidently there is no such dress as Islmic, but one which covers the body in the maximum possible way). Salwar Kameez does pass this test and probably because of which it is the most preferred dress by women. Kameez is a quintessential part of Indian attire called shalwar kameez. It is an Indian variation of suit and is worn by women not only within India but in several parts of Asia as well.Traditionally, shalwar kameez fashion was merely a combination of a top or a shirt like garment, combined with a matching or contrasting pant along with a long shawl or a stole known as dupatta. The shirt is referred to as kameez and the shalwar describes the trousers. The kameez were either long, short or knee length, depending on various countries, regions and preferences. The shalwar was tied around the waist and remains loose and baggy towards the end. The dupatta was worn around the neck or head. However, this traditional version evolved over a period of time. Kameez fashion has many variations in present day world in terms of cuts, fabrics, designs etc.The kameez design can vary depending on the kind of fabric used.
